Things to Do in and around Moraira, Benissa, Denia, Javéa (Xabia) and Calpe - within maximum 60 min.
Day trips from Benissa/Moraira
Markets
There are a couple of local markets worth visiting in the vicinity of our house. On Friday, Moraira's central market place opens doors and offers all daily products fresh and in a lively atmosphere. On Saturdays it's worth visiting the local market of Jalón (Xaló in Valencian), a small village 9km from Benissa inside the country. It's always crowded and it's excellent to complete your local experience with a good lunch & wine in Casa Aleluya, a small typical Valencian restaurant in the centre.

Guadalest - 47 km from Casa Isario
Guadalest is definitely a place worth visiting, for two reasons: the beautiful 11th century old castle Guadalest (https://guadalest.es/), which is situated on a magnificent high rock, a little inland from Altea. But as well the light blue reservoir that surrounds the castle is spectacular, as it contrasts heavily in the surrounding nature. Make sure to be there early on the day during high season, as it can get crowded. The town of Guadalest lives from tourists and personally we don't like that too much, nevertheless it's worth a visit and a fresh walk up to the top.

Altea - 20km from Casa Isario
One of the cities worth visiting on the Costa Blanca North is Altea, on a distance of ca. 20km from our house. It's known for her labyrinth of small streets and its white houses, in the centre only accessible for pedestrians. The church La Mare de Déu del Consol ("Our Lady of Solace")  at the Plaza de la Iglesia is easily identifiable by its picturesque blue and white domes, tiled with glazed ceramics. The old town is full of hand-craft shops and you have plenty of restaurants & bars to choose from, to polish your visit. Altea lies in the middle between the Mediterranean and the Sierra Bernia Mountains and gives your scenery views on surprising moments.

Walking/Hiking
The Sierra de Bernia is a popular mountain range in the province of Alicante, Spain. It's especially popular for hikers, with many well-marked trails leading through the forests and up to the peaks. The views from the top are spectacular, with the Mediterranean Sea and the cities of Altea and Benidorm stretching out below. The best point to start your walk (and closest from our house) is when you drive to the village of Benissa - and just outside the village of Benissa - you take the CV-749 road on the new roundabout just outside Benissa. Once you're on the CV-749, it's fairly simple, as you can just follow this road. You will pass the village of Pinos, which has a lovely countryside lunch spot, with Restaurant Pinos (http://www.bar-restaurante-pinos.com/), before or after your walk.  When you've passed Pinos, you continue your drive further up the mountains until you reach a T-junction where you can go right (direction of Xaló) , or go left to the the "Cases de Bernia". You go left here, and drive up to the parking space of Cases de Bernia, where you can start various walks. At this point you can make various choices in length of the walk. One of the highlights is the spectacular view  up in the cave, where you look over the mountains to the Mediterranean sea and the cities of Altea and Benidorm. Enjoy!
